Surfers Paradise has been an iconic tourist destination since the 1950s and In February 2011 Gold Coast City Council invited residents, businesses, visitors and stakeholders to share their vision for Surfers Paradise to 2040. While at Halfnine I was asked to design, art direct, direct the photoshoot and part-photoshoot the Vision. The brief was to portray an international tourist destination where people come to visit and live, to discover a relaxed urban lifestyle that is fun and entertaining, stylish and cultured on the shores of a world famous beach. The challenge was too do away with the tacky image of Surfers but embrace all the things that we love about such a wonderful place.
Halfnine was able to take all of our information and create a document which is easy to read, visually tantalising and tells a story – the document visually represents the communities vision for Surfers Paradise. Halfnine provide a complete interactive service from concept development, photography, graphic design to printing. The end product was supported by a range of collateral and was web ready. The Surfers Paradise vision stands out, it is instantaneously recognised and has set the direction for not only the future of Surfers Paradise but all projects in the precinct. ~ Shaelee Richards, Gold Coast City Council
